A Spot Of Sunshine



A blur of hectic people whisk by me,
Never stopping to acknowledge the world.
Beauty that fades like the tides of the sea,
Like ones imagination much unfurled.

Enjoy it for a while, just surrender,
A beauty we see for only so long.
Dance under the moon, gaze upon splendor,
Bringing peace like serene tunes from a song.

Evergreen trees, blooming flowers, blue seas,
Billowing puffs of rain, cloudy grey skies,
The warm summer sun, the cool winter breeze,
The countless treasures people don't realize.

I live my life a blinded hypocrite,
Letting the world pass, while aimlessly I sit.

Analysis Paper

My sonnet, "A Spot Of Sunshine" is mainly talking about how there are so many busy people in this world and how they never take even one minute to admire how beautiful our world is. The sonnet also talks about how the world won't always look like the way it is now, so people should take time to enjoy their time on Earth.
In my first stanza, my first line, "A blur of hectic people whisk by me" is describing how I always see many people walk in a hurry past me that is just seems like a blur. "Never stopping to acknowledge the world," is pretty much self-explanatory, people often have too much to do and forget how to enjoy life and how to admire the scenic things in this world. "Beauty that fades like the tides of the sea, like ones imagination much unfurled" means that the Earth's beauty can fade like the tides when they hit the shore and go back into the sea. It is like ones imagination unfurled because the earth is so beautiful it is beyond our own imagination.
"Enjoy it for a while, just surrender, a beauty we see for only so long." Is the first line of my second stanza meaning that we should just enjoy our time on this enticing earth because we won't be able to see it for that long. "Dance under the moon, gaze upon splendor, bringing peace like serene tunes from a song." We should take time to do simple things like dancing under the moon and gazing upon the many splendors of this world. It can bring peace to your soul like a melody from a song. People should take time to appreciate it, even if they just take a glance at the splendors the world has to offer.
My third stanza describes all the different things we see around us everyday; trees, flowers, clouds, winds, and the sun. I, personally really like this stanza because my first line gives you the feeling of warmth and summer when I am describing more of the sunnier things in nature, while my second line describes the more rainy and gloomy days. The third line sets the contrast between warm summer days and cool winter nights. The fourth line is just of how everything is beautiful no matter the weather.
I like my last two lines of my sonnet the most because it really sums up the whole sonnet and gives it a twist in saying that even though I describe all these wonderful things in nature and criticize people who don’t seem to care about the world, I, myself, am like a blinded hypocrite who lets the world pass by me.
The title of my poem, "A Spot Of Sunshine" is referring to how just taking a look around ourselves and noticing the finer things in life can make our day better, like a sun shining down on us, it can brighten our day. I like my title because it is alliteration, both starting with S.
When I wrote this sonnet I started off thinking about how my parents never take time off from work to enjoy life, but in the end I found that even though I am writing about how beautiful the world is I never even took the time to enjoy life to the fullest either. It made me realize that I take things for granted and that I should really take some time to just appreciate our Earth and it's beauty.
